Method
- In a mixing bowl, add 2 cups of rice flour, 1 cup of urad dal flour, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp asafoetida, and 2 tbsp of butter.
- Mix all the ingredients well using your hands.
- Add 1 cup of water little by little and knead the dough. The dough should be soft and pliable.
- Take the murukku maker and fix the star-shaped plate.
- Take a small portion of the dough and add it to the murukku maker.
- Press the dough in a circular motion to form a spiral shape. Repeat the process until the dough is over.
- In a deep-frying pan, heat oil on medium flame.
- Add the murukku to the oil and fry until it turns golden brown.
- Remove the murukku from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil on a paper towel.
- Repeat the frying process until all the murukku is done.
- Store the Rice Murukku in an airtight container once it has cooled down.
Notes
- Make sure that the dough is kneaded well, or else the murukku will break while frying.
- Do not overcrowd the frying pan while frying the murukku.
