Method

  1. Wash the basmati rice in plenty of water and soak it for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add chopped onions. Fry until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  5. Add chopped green chili, biryani masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Fry for a minute.
  6. Add mixed vegetables and fry for a minute.
  7. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Fry for a minute.
  8. Add water and salt to taste. Mix well.
  9. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  10. Turn off the heat and let the biryani rest for 5 minutes before serving.

  • You can use any vegetables of your choice in this recipe.
  • If you don't have biryani masala, you can use garam masala instead.
