- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Salt to taste

- A heavy-bottomed pan with a tight-fitting lid
- A sharp knife
- A cutting board
- A measuring cup and spoons
Method
- Wash the basmati rice in plenty of water and soak it for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add chopped onions. Fry until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add chopped green chili, biryani masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Fry for a minute.
- Add mixed vegetables and fry for a minute.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Fry for a minute.
- Add water and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Turn off the heat and let the biryani rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can use any vegetables of your choice in this recipe.
- If you don't have biryani masala, you can use garam masala instead.
