- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups water

- Large pot with lid
- Frying pan
- Wooden spoon
Method
- Rinse the rice thoroughly with water and soak it for at least 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
- Add the soaked rice to the boiling water and stir it gently to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- Cook the rice until it's 80% done, then remove it from the heat and drain the water.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add the cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
- Add the diced onions to the frying pan and sauté them until they turn translucent.
- Add the diced carrots and bell peppers to the frying pan and sauté them for a few minutes until they're slightly tender.
- Add the peas to the frying pan and sauté them for a few minutes.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the frying pan and mix well.
- Add the cooked rice to the frying pan and mix everything together.
- Cover the frying pan with a lid and let the rice cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat.
- Remove the lid and give the rice a gentle stir.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
