Method

  1. Rinse the rice thoroughly with water and soak it for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
  3. Add the soaked rice to the boiling water and stir it gently to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  4. Cook the rice until it's 80% done, then remove it from the heat and drain the water.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add the cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
  6. Add the diced onions to the frying pan and sauté them until they turn translucent.
  7. Add the diced carrots and bell peppers to the frying pan and sauté them for a few minutes until they're slightly tender.
  8. Add the peas to the frying pan and sauté them for a few minutes.
  9. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the frying pan and mix well.
  10. Add the cooked rice to the frying pan and mix everything together.
  11. Cover the frying pan with a lid and let the rice cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat.
  12. Remove the lid and give the rice a gentle stir.
  13. Serve hot and enjoy!

You can add any vegetables of your choice to this dish, such as green beans, corn, or even potatoes. You can also add protein such as chicken or shrimp to make it a complete meal.
