- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 cup of water

- A large saucepan
- A wooden spoon
- A blender or food processor
Method
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the can of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper to the saucepan and stir well.

- Pour the sauce back into the saucepan and heat over low heat until warmed through.
