- 1 cup Basmati Rice
- 2 cups Water
- 1/2 tsp Saffron strands
- 2 Green Cardamom pods
- 2 Cloves
- 1-inch Cinnamon stick
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- Salt to taste

- A small bowl

Method
- Wash the Basmati rice in cold water and soak it for 30 minutes.
- Warm the water in a small bowl and add the saffron strands to it. Allow it to steep for 10 minutes.
- Heat the ghee in a pot over medium heat. Add the whole spices (cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and bay leaf) and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the soaked rice to the pot and sauté for a minute or two until the rice turns opaque.
- Add the saffron water and salt to the pot and stir well.
- Add 2 cups of water to the pot and bring it to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and simmer until the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the rice is cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
Notes
- Make sure to use good quality Basmati rice for best results.
- If you don’t have whole spices, you can use ground spices instead.
