Method

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chillies. Saute till the onions turn translucent.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn mushy. Add all the spices and saute for a minute.
  3. Add soaked chickpeas and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add soaked rice and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add water and salt to taste. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles.
  5. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
